The In-Syed Story August Edit

Letter from the Editor

I’ve spent years helping people care for their hair. Over time, I’ve realised healthy hair doesn’t start in the salon—it starts in the kitchen, around the table, while travelling, slowing down, sleeping well, and enjoying the everyday. This space is where I’ll be sharing all of that: recipes, flowers, travel, hair, wellness, and the things inspiring me along the way. Welcome to the first edition.

For the past 17 years I’ve spent my days behind the salon chair, helping people feel more confident through their hair. During that time, I’ve realised that achieving beautiful, healthy hair is about far more than finding the right shampoo or visiting a great hairdresser every few months.

Great hair begins at home, in your kitchen and in your lifestyle.

The conversations I have with clients rarely stay focused on hair for long. We talk about recipes we’ve been cooking, books we’re reading, holidays we’re planning, flowers for the dining table, and the small daily habits that make us feel our best. Those conversations inspired me to create this monthly magazine.

There is so much information surrounding hair growth and hair health today. New products, miracle serums and endless supplements appear almost every week, making it difficult to know what is genuinely worthwhile. My aim isn’t to add to the noise, but to simplify it.

I’m not here to replace the advice of nutritionists or healthcare professionals. Instead, I’m sharing what I’ve learned through nearly two decades as a hairdresser, alongside the research I’ve found most valuable and the everyday recipes, rituals and products that I genuinely enjoy.

Each month you’ll find practical hair care advice, ingredients and nutrients that support healthy hair, seasonal recipes, travel inspiration, simple flower arranging ideas, books I’m enjoying, and reflections from life both inside and outside the salon. Think of it as a collection of ideas centred around living well—with healthy hair as the common thread.

This month’s edition celebrates summer. Inside you’ll find light, seasonal recipes, simple ways to protect your hair from the sun, inspiration gathered from recent travels, and a few of my favourite ideas for making the most of the season. I hope it encourages you to slow down, eat well, spend time outdoors and perhaps discover a few new rituals along the way.

Thank you for being here at the very beginning. Whether you’ve found me through the salon, Instagram or simply share a love of beautiful hair and thoughtful living, I’m delighted you’ve joined me.

You’ll find each full monthly edition on my website, with individual features and behind-the-scenes moments shared throughout the month on Instagram. I’d love this to become a conversation, so if there’s a recipe you’d recommend, a product you’d like me to explore, or a hair question you’d like answered, please do get in touch.

Until next month,

Tom
